Captivating Encounters: Cheetahs Thrill Visitors at Cooch Behar's Rasik Bill

Three majestic cheetahs at Rasik Bill Zoo, captivating visitors with their grace and beauty
Greetings, wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers! 🌿✨ A truly remarkable event unfolded at Rasik Bill in Cooch Behar, where three male cheetahs recently joined the resident female cheetahs, Rimjhim and Garima. This captivating development has not only expanded the local cheetah population but has also stirred excitement among visitors eager to witness this rare spectacle. Enthusiastic visitors, armed with their mobile phones, captured awe-inspiring images of the cheetahs, adding to the collective thrill. According to the Assistant Divisional Forest Officer (ADFO) of the Cooch Behar Division in West Bengal, the three mature adult cheetahs have been identified as Sultan, Sehjad, and Sohel. Sultan established an immediate connection with Garima, hinting at potential bonds forming among the cheetahs. Sehjad, with a penchant for solitude, often conceals himself in the foliage, while Sohel confidently explores his designated territory near the Chidiakhana area. Rimjhim gracefully observes Sohel from the treetops, and Garima takes leisure breaks around the Machar pool, signaling a harmonious coexistence among the cheetahs in their newfound habitat. The ADFO expresses optimism about the peaceful living conditions among the cheetahs in Rasik Bill. This extraordinary event follows the 2019 rescue of two female cheetahs, Rimjhim and Garima, from a tea garden in Longapara. Now calling Rasik Bill Mini Chidiakhana their permanent home, the duo has attracted three additional male cheetahs from the Jhargram forest. The revelation of the new male cheetahs added to the festive atmosphere on Christmas Day, drawing an increased number of visitors to Rasik Bill for picnics and wildlife observation. Among the delighted spectators was Monorama Karzi, a resident of Tufanganj, who visited Chidiakhana with her family. She expressed her joy at seeing Sohel and promptly captured the moment on her mobile phone. Abdul Rafiq, a resident of Dhubri district in Assam, also visited with his sister, fulfilling her long-standing desire to see cheetahs. The addition of the new male cheetahs has ignited excitement among wildlife enthusiasts, promising captivating developments for Rasik Bill's cheetah population in the future.
